This session promises a thought-provoking journey through the millennia-old maritime cultures of the Dawnland (New England) and the African continent. Dr. Gomes will illuminate historical encounters and contributions, highlighting the resilience of Black and Indigenous communities in the face of colonialism and dispossession, emphasizing the role of kinship and community.
